Like seeds, coalitions thrive in community. We have had overwhelming interest from seed leaders who want to volunteer to develop resources for raising local seed awareness.

If you’re a storyteller, designer, organizer, researcher, or just seed-curious, we’d love to work with you! Please click on the form above and let us know how you’d like to help. If your specific expertise and interests don’t quite fit into these roles, let us know. All are welcome!

We are creating free community resources to grow local seed awareness! Join us to build the foundational resources we’ll need to connect with a wider population of eaters, gardeners, and local food practitioners.

Want to learn more about our initiative? Here are the details of what to expect as a volunteer!
Throughout June and July of 2025, the Coalition will facilitate:

  • Conversations with seed and local food system leaders to understand their biggest barriers to raising awareness of local seeds. Conversations will take the form of 1:1 interviews and virtual convenings.

  • Building a shared directory of seed libraries, growers, and organizations so we can all find each other and collaborate. This initiative will include mapping existing initiatives, recruiting new local seed partners, and weaving connections between partners.

  • Creating a shared understanding of the barriers we will need to address to increase appreciation for regionally adapted seeds and local seed networks and to learn what activities and support would be most valuable to create change. This goal will be achieved through: Synthesizing the findings of local seed partner interviews; qualitative and quantitative feedback from coalition members; and writing a report about our collective findings in July 2025.

  • Finally, the coalition would like to position itself to engage in long-term conversations about how to work, year over year, to increase local seed awareness throughout the United States. We imagine that our next step will be to collaboratively write a grant proposal and apply for funding to support a long-term culture-shift strategy to promote local and regionally-adapted seeds.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, please sign up to volunteer! We will send weekly volunteer emails every Monday with updates about how to contribute to these collective efforts. We are so grateful that you are here!
